Journey Foods, a company specialized in food packaging and preparation for large food manufacturers, has started using modern technologies like AI and machine learning to help improve their business and make recipes more sustainable.
It’s like Blade Runner for soybeans.
The technology helps to automatically select the most nutritious and sustainable ingredients for a company’s desired food product.
For example, if a company wants to change one of their products to make it gluten-free, Food Journey’s program automatically finds the most suitable, nutritional, and sustainable alternative.
The company’s Founder, Rianna Lynn, was initially focused on health and nutrition before turning her focus to sustainability, as mentioned in GreenBiz:
“While improved nutrition was Lynn’s first goal with Journey Foods, she said there was a natural evolution into thinking more about sustainability. ‘Sustainability came in a little bit later down the road,’ she said. ‘Even though that’s a passion of mine.’ Lynn is a scientist at heart with a background in biology.”
Lynn works with huge companies like Unilever who make a huge impact on the global food market, so it’s great to hear about these changes being made on such a huge scale.
Joe is passionate about environmentalism and the effect it has on our planet. He’s been a vegetarian for 10 years and is very strict about recycling in his apartment. As well as writing, he likes to spend time singing, playing the guitar, and defending pineapple on pizza.
